In the framework of European Union/Europa Nostra 2012, Garnik Hovsepyan, an honorable member of the Chknagh community, region of Aragatsotn, Republic of Armenia, has been honored with the international jury’s special appreciation. As the ICOMOS/Armenia informed www.aravot.am, Hovsepyan was honored with special appreciation of the international jury and was granted a diploma in the category Dedicated Service by Individuals. Alexander Fürst zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn, the chairman of the jury, thanked him for his contribution over a long period of time to the conservation of cultural heritage in Europe.
Belgium, Finland, Italy, Poland, Sweden and Spain were also honored with such appreciation in the category Dedicated Service by Individuals or Organizations. The Republic of Armenia participated for the first time.

On September 30, 2012, the ceremony of granting the diploma to Garnik Hovsepyan will take place in the house of culture of Chknagh in the framework of European Heritage Days in Armenia. The photo series to be shown, which is called Conservation for the Future, will explain why the project of restoring the St. Stepanos Monastery was honored with special appreciation.
By the way, Garnik Hovsepyan’s sons are Attorney General of the Republic of Armenia Aghvan Hovsepyan and Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MP Ruben Hovsepyan.
