A 52-year-old Turkish man has been sentenced to one year and three months in prison for insulting Turkish President Abdullah Gül on social networking site Facebook, Anatolia news agency reported.
Ali Cemal Ağırman said he was unaware that the post constituted a crime, demanding his release. The court, however, sentenced him to one year and three months in prison for “insulting the president.”
Ağırman is also being tried for insulting Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
