On the morning of September 29, Vanush Amiraghyan, the mayor of Noyemberyan, called Karine Azibekyan, the director of the Noyemberyan house of culture, to his office and suggested that she hand in her resignation. He offered K. Azibekyan the job of a librarian in one of the town libraries instead.
Karine Azibekyan didn’t hand in her resignation. Azibekyan says that the mayor, being seated during the whole meeting, didn’t invite her to sit down.
53-year-old K. Azibekyan has been the director of the Noyemberyan house of culture for 30 years. She is convinced that the reason for the mayor’s suggestion was his doubts that she hadn’t voted for Vanush Amiraghyan in the local election on September 23.

“I don’t think that working with her is reasonable,” Vanush Amiraghyan who had been elected the mayor 6 days before said.
On March 8, the Noyemberyan house of culture organized an event dedicated to the International Women’s Day sponsored by Mikayel Vardanyan, a National Assembly member, which was attended by the community leaders of the Noyemberyan district. After that event, Vanush Amiraghyan reprimanded K. Azibekyan for not properly informing him about the event.
Presently, there are 5-6 workers of retirement age who work in the town hall of Noyemberyan and institutions under it whom the mayor doesn’t wish to fire. The Noyemberyan house of culture was renovated with crying defects during Vanush Amiraghyan’s tenure, in 2005-2006. We have already informed that after heavy rains, the house of culture was filled with water and the town hall hasn’t taken measures to lift the staircase of the house of culture a bit to prevent water from flowing into the house of culture.
Mayor Vanush Amiraghyan has ordered to give a room in the house of culture without payment to a person who doesn’t work in the house of culture.
Let us add that Vanush Amiraghyan is the deputy chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Noyemberyan affiliate council and Karine Azibekyan is a member of the Rule of Law Party (RLP).
