October 08,2012 17:10

Today Aharon Adibekyan, the director of the Sociometer center, talking about the possible outcome of the presidential election, presented the results of the research conducted by them. According to the poll, Gagik Tsarukyan is in the leading place in the opposition camp, chances of the other opposition candidates are as follows – Raffi Hovhannisyan 1.8%, Levon Ter-Petrossian 0.6%, Vahan Hovhannisyan 1.0%, Armen Rustamyan 0.1%. www.aravot.am inquired of Armen Martirosyan, the deputy leader of the Heritage Party, whether the numbers presented by A. Adibekyan were close to the reality. Mr. Martirosyan said, “I don’t trust these numbers at all for a few reasons. Firstly, they don’t correspond to the political situation; there is an absolutely different situation. On the other hand, ultimately, what Mr. Adibekyan says corresponds to the official numbers almost completely. As a certain position, a part of political activities, the numbers he presents certainly give food for thought and according to them, one can realize what numbers the government wants to see and the client who orders such opinion polls. Let me say that a political mistake has been made, since the Prosperous Armenia Party has stated lots of times that it is an alternative, it is not an opposition; I don’t know why they want to be more Catholic than the PAP.”

Mr. Martirosyan stated that the presented numbers could not make a big fuss. They take such a step just to disorient the society. www.aravot.am tried to get the comments of Vahan Hovhannisyan, an Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) MP, on the data made public by Aharon Adibekyan. During a conversation with us, Mr. Hovhannisyan said, “I don’t care about it and I don’t want to comment.”
