On Sunday, during the celebration of Gyumri Town Day, Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan, wishing “the best things on the planet” to newly-elected mayor Samvel Balasanyan, stated that for the sake of the development of his native town, he was ready to cooperate, help Mr. Balasanyan, certainly, if he needed that. Today www.aravot.am inquired of Samvel Balasanyan whether he was ready to accept Vardan Ghukasyan’s proposal. “Why not? With great pleasure,” Mr. Balasanyan replied. Governor Ashot Giziryan answered our question addressed to the newly-elected mayor of
Gyumri whether he was ready to offer the office of the Deputy Mayor to Vardan Ghukasyan. “You are asking a provocative question, he [meaning Vardan Ghukasyan, A.N.] didn’t say that about the office and you know it is impossible, why do you ask such provocative questions, guys, I praised you a short while ago, I didn’t praise, I said the truth that you are the best and most active. You ask an interesting question, staff slaughter is the term used by the press. Why? When I was just appointed the governor, they said that Giziryan would decapitate everyone. However, I haven’t replaced anyone, perhaps, Mr. Balasanyan doesn’t want to replace anyone, he works in a team, if certainly, workers want to remain,” the governor suggested that Samvel Balasanyan pursue correct policy following his example.
Whereas the newly-elected mayor made clear for the staff working with the former mayor that, nonetheless, there would be changes and they would choose professionals among them who correspond to their passports of municipal officers. “As for who doesn’t correspond, doesn’t work, because everything will start with professionals and the professionals in our country are the most important managers, we will examine, make analyses, after that we will have our say,” Mr. Balasanyan clearly explained. The mayor will work transparently with journalists, if, certainly, they are objective, the criticism against him, according to his definition, is healthy and genuine.
