The championship is participated by operating companies (“X-Tech” and “WebX Technologies”), teenagers and some Armenians from Diaspora, in particular, US and Iran citizens. “Today we can say that this year’s contest is at a level higher with its quality than that of the previous year. We have not only received more applications for participation to the championship, but also most of the games are ready for use and tomorrow the visitors of the exhibition will have the chance to rate the creative mind of the participants as well as play the games presented by the latter. Even teen participants were able to perform programming works, which is truly amazing. Everybody is invited to participate in this exhibition and reveal young Armenian talents,” said Karen Vardanyan, the UITE Executive Director.
Names of the winners will be announced and prizes awarded on 20 October. Awards ceremony will be held in 9 nomination categories – Best Game, Best Mobile Game, Best Scenario, Best Design, Innovation, Best Social Mobile Application, Best Entertainment Application, Best Communication Application and Junior Championship.
“Within only a few years we all witnessed how games and mobile applications invaded our lives. This is a dynamically developing and growing domain which, however, still lacks Armenian works and content. This contest aims at encouraging young programmers, designers and animators to jointly create and develop the world of Armenian games. For many of them this domain may open serious horizons of professional growth and business. That is why we are happy to support the Open Game for the second consecutive year,” said Lilith Martirosyan, PR responsible of Orange Armenia.
The Awards ceremony will be preceded by an exhibition, during which the visitors will have the chance to get acquainted with and play the games presented by contest participants as well as vote for their favorite game. The participant with the majority of visitors’ votes will be awarded with the “Audience Award”.
As a reminder, the exhibition of the games of the championship will be held on 20 October at 11:00-17:00 at National Center of Aesthetics (Children’s Art Gallery on 13 Abovyan Street), followed by the Awards ceremony at 17:00.
The objective of the championship, organized by the Union of Information Technology Enterprises and Orange Armenia already for the second time, is to develop the domain of computer games, which will enable to create a new trend of technological business, to reveal new talents and to motivate the youth.
The jury of the championship is composed of advanced computer games specialists from Sourcio, Plexonic, DigitalChocolate, Triada, MicroSoft-RA companies and Association of Modern Technologies Professionals, National Professional Cybersport League.
