“The Armenian government disrupted displaying Parada, a movie about homosexuals, intended to be displayed in Yerevan at the initiative of the German Embassy and the EU office in Yerevan,” human rights advocate Artur Sakunts who expressed his readiness to display the movie said to www.aravot.am.
“It was what the government dictated. When the government shows negligence in dealing with a violation of rights, it proves their interest in it. How many police officers are gathered because of a picket outside the attorney’s office, why don’t they carry out that same duty outside the puppet theater to ensure the security of those who wanted to watch the movie?” Mr. Sakunts added.
In his words, the Human Rights Committee in Geneva mentioned in the instructions regarding Armenia that the Armenian government showed negligence in eliminating discrimination against minorities in our country and did nothing to rule out discrimination.
