There are speculations in Ijevan that cattle in the region of Tavush are contaminated with anthrax. Vasil Abrahamyan, the head of the Tavush regional service of the State Livestock Inspection, said that a bovine animal in the town of Ijevan “has been suspected of being contaminated with anthrax.” The animal’s meat has been destroyed, samples of it have been sent to Yerevan. The results of laboratory examination will be known next Monday. Vasil Abrahamyan said that they had taken necessary measures – the cowhouse, in which the animal was kept, has been disinfected, the situation is under veterinaries’ constant supervision.
