The Kurdish women living in Armenia organized a protest outside the UN Office in Armenia. They drew the attention of Henriette Ahrens, the UN acting resident coordinator, to the arrests of Kurdish activists, intellectuals and politicians in Turkey in recent years.
“They shed blood of Kurds in Turkey these days. Our political prisoners are at death’s door. As of today, no superpower – the European Union, the Council of Europe, the UN – haven’t responded. Our voice will not be heard this time either, but I hope that the voice of Kurdish women will be heard. Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the Kurdish people, has been arrested for a 15 year already, we don’t know in what condition he is. God forbid, something happens to him, Turkey will become a graveyard,” Zhenya Amiryan, chairman of the “Kurdistan” committee, the deputy of Kurdish national Congress the speaker of the Kurdish parliament, threatened.
