“The opinion that the Prosperous Armenia Party should participate in the election with its own candidate, and that candidate should be Gagik Tsarukyan is dominant in the party. I don’t want to discuss at the moment any version of the presidential election put forward by anyone,” Naira Zohrabyan, the secretary of the PAP parliamentary group, said to www.aravot.am, responding to our question which of the three options put forward by sociologist Aharon Adibekyan was more probable.
Let us remind that today the sociologist put forward three options for the PAP’s participation in the presidential election – to return to the coalition, to nominate its own candidate and to endorse another candidate. Talking about the regional meetings, Ms. Zohrabyan reminded that they presented the internal political situation, discussed issues concerning the presidential election, particularly the format of the PAP’s participation, “Before the regional meetings, we had instructed the regional and Yerevan offices to meet with the population, to clarify their approaches, and during the regional meetings, we try to find out, sum up how the society formulates its social demand, how the PAP should participate in the presidential election. Discussions are still under way, but as a result of the discussions that have already taken place, the opinion that the PAP should participate in the election with its own candidate, and that candidate should be party leader Gagik Tsarukyan dominates.”
Ms. Zohrabyan also added that the results of the meeting will be summed up in the party political council.
