Vardges Gaspari, an Armenian National Congress (ANC) activist, welcomed MPs outside the Demirchyan entrance of the National Assembly this morning with a new poster. Among the photos of Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MPs Samvel Alexanyan and Arakel Movsisyan, former MP Ruben Hayrapetyan, Serzh Sargsyan and Robert Kocharyan, there was Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) leader Gagik Tsarukyan’s photo too, and the photos were captioned with who was suspected of what hooliganism and crime. www.aravot.am inquired of Vardges Gaspari what Gagik Tsarukyan was suspected of and what the purpose of this demonstration was. He replied: “Don’t you know? Gagik Tsarukyan is suspected of super-oligarchy. There is a public perception that he is at least an oligarch. I don’t want to talk about his past, that he has been convicted, I have been convicted too. Let me just refer to Mariam Sukhudyan who says that everyone who has committed a crime, but honestly regrets about his deed, there is no problem. I think that Gagik Tsarukyan represents the oligarchy on the political stage today. The National Assembly is not his place either.” Let us note that a few PAP MPs didn’t like the poster, they told Gaspari that it was not Gagik Tsarukyan’s place. Zaruhi Postanjyan approved of the poster.
In response to our observation that he was a member of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) and the ANC position on the PAP had changed recently, whether he hadn’t changed his, he said, “The ANC is one of those unique organizations, in which Vardges Gaspari with his opinion can be. As you can see, I have my own opinion. If any representative of any party expresses an idea that differs from his party’s one, I am sorry, but he will be beaten up.” In response to our question whether this demonstration of his and the poster with Gagik Tsarukyan’s photo on it couldn’t harm the negotiations between the ANC and the PAP on the upcoming presidential election, Vardges Gaspari said, “I am not a politician. There is no clear opinion on that in the Congress and there is no decision on the PAP based on consensus that Gagik Tsarukyan has become the people’s figure.” We inquired whether the PAP had participated in the events of March 1 or not, in his opinion. He noted that he knew what had been published in the press. I.e. Gagik Tsarukyan received 300 uniforms.
Vardges Gaspari has decided to organize such a demonstration before the first four-day session every month, which aims at “reminding the elected what people thought of them.” Talking about Samvel Alexanyan, he said, “Certainly, I respect the opinion of all those people
