Margarit Yesayan, a member of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) parliamentary group, noted during a conversation with www.aravot.am that the new hysteria of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry caused by the visit of the Republic of Uruguay House of Representatives delegation to Artsakh was rather inappropriate.
Baku has lodged an official protest with Uruguay, demanding to express their position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. “The visit of such a delegation contributes to escalation of the conflict in the region,” the statement of Elman Abdulayev, a representative of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, reads. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the neighboring country, in its turn, is convinced that “they can settle the conflict by military means, but the wish to settle it by peaceful means holds Baku back from that path.”
Margarit Yesayan said during a conversation with us, “I already talked about our neighbors’ inadequate response once, when they made a similar fuss about the visit of the Swiss MPs to Artsakh and Armenia. Repeating my advice to our neighbors, let me say now that after this response of the aggressive and extremist neighbor, I am left with no choice, but to say what a surprise, our Azerbaijani neighbors are willing to settle the conflict by peaceful means. What is this fuss about, what is new and unfamiliar for you, developed and realistic countries of the world have been urging you for many years to put up with the existence of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, respect the international law, accept the principles of self-determination of peoples, non-use of force and territorial integrity, stop the aggressive rhetoric and sit at the negotiating table. Don’t pretend to be innocent and don’t try to present yourselves with a halo, which you don’t and didn’t have also when you provoked and started military operations against self-determined Artsakh. Thus, behave yourselves, or else we can speak your language with you and make a respective counterstroke.”
