It Is a Bit Early to Tell Names, Wait, a Minister Says

November 15,2012 13:09

“We look for operators to manage; the Itera company has also submitted an application,” Armen Movsisyan, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, said this in response to a question of www.aravot.am. The thing is that after the latest scandalous stories regarding the Nairit company, the government of the Republic of Armenia is looking for operators to manage Nairit under license.

Harutyun Arakelyan, the chairman of the Democratic Liberal Party of Armenia (ADLA) made a set of revelations with regard to the fraud at Nairit and deliberately bankrupting the company and blamed a set of high-ranking Armenian officials led by Prime Minster Tigran Sargsyan for that. Harutyun Arakelyan is a fugitive right now. There are speculations that the Armenian side has already reached preliminary agreements with Itera, a Russian company.

Yesterday the Hraparak daily newspaper wrote that the negotiations on the issue from the Armenian side had been conducted by former Minister Gagik Martirosyan and there were certain agreements already, however, the details of the deal were not made public yet.

Armen Martirosyan responded to the mentioned publication in the following manner, “No, no, no, it is too early. Negotiations with different companies, including Itera, are still under way.”

We inquired of the minister which of the applications the Armenian side preferred. “The one that will take on a commitment to carry out the whole project,” he said.

In response to our next question which companies were ready to take on that commitment, the minister said, “It is a bit early to tell names, wait!”
