“The Waters Are Troubled, but They Will Not Always Be Troubled; They Will Be Overcome,” Aram Sargsyan Says About His Nomination

November 16,2012 20:28

In response to a question of www.aravot.am whether he had made a final decision on whether he would announce his candidacy or not, Aram Z. Sargsyan, the leader of the Republic Party, said, “I would never believe that I would say that the situation today, in the upcoming election is such, so difficult. I have always seen, pinned hope on everything. I say today too that the waters are troubled, but these waters will not always be troubled; they will be overcome. For the moment, I don’t see that. I will not engage in a process, where I will lose. That defeat will not benefit either me or these people. If I engage in a political process, a struggle personally, I will have to win and I will win. If I see that, I will certainly engage; it is not like I am a person with no ambitions. I endorsed Stepan Demirchyan; I endorsed Levon Ter-Petrossian. If the people have a candidate today whom I trust, who is honest, I will endorse him. But it is not like I don’t know my own worth. Perhaps, I appraise that worth too high to think of those things right now.”
