Commenting on the criticism made by Naira Zohrabyan, the secretary of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) parliamentary group, that it was not a boycott, but an escape that the Republican Party of Armenia hadn’t come to the extraordinary meeting, Eduard Sharmazanov, the spokesperson for the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), said during a conversation with www.aravot.am, “Let us decide what this is ourselves. This is a method of political struggle. This is neither political whim nor a game. This is political struggle. The RPA said that we didn’t deem appropriate, and there are only political reasons for that. This is a political method that is called in the National Assembly Rules of Procedure political boycott. And who considers it as an escape… or stuff. If it is an escape, have those MPs who didn’t come also escaped?
“I am under the impression that our political opponents and representatives of the alternative lack tolerance, and they have to learn it from the Republican Party, because one can be an opposition, but one should be tolerant. One shouldn’t get nervous. We never feel bad and make shows, when the opposition or the alternative doesn’t participate in voting, boycotts or votes against. This is normal. This is political struggle.”
