We don’t intend to change the format, the roles of the OSCE and EU in this issue are different,” said EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia Philippe Lefort addressing Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy, APA reports. He noted that the OSCE is directly engaged in official negotiations and the EU supports the establishment of communication between the parties: “The involvement in process and mutual communication are the main elements for changing the perception of the people of the two sides and can contribute to the solution of the conflict. Unfortunately, the mutual relations are weak for now.”
Aked how the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides perceive the EU initiatives to build confidence, Lefort said that the both sides have positive attitude to these initiatives, but they approached it differently: “In terms of confidence building Armenia prefers security, Azerbaijan supports the contacts between the peoples”.
