“People, don’t be afraid of being Don Quixote to a certain extent,” Vardan Vardanyan called on our compatriots in this manner 2 years ago, informing that he was going on a pilgrimage to Great Cervantes’s grave. Being the founding director of Don Quixote, a humanitarian foundation, Vardanyan informed that he was going to make a dramatized pilgrimage to Great Cervantes’s grave to bow to the genius’s grave.
Dressed as a medieval knight (Don Quixote on a horse and Sancho Panza on a donkey), the group will cross 30 000km from Yerevan to Madrid visiting all European capitals, urging people throughout the entire journey to turn the genius’s grave into a sacred place, a place of pilgrimage. Vardan Vardanyan communicated to www.aravot.am that expecting support from the people and statesmen, he didn’t manage to implement the original plans because of lack of finances, “The program has been changed. The Paris-Madrid part of the event will be organized now sponsored by our foundation and the town hall of Gyumri. During which, the Don Quixote march will be played.” Details on www.donkihot.org.
