“We are under no obligation to give any explanation about the purpose of the visit, but since there is such a fuss and unhealthy interest in the visit, let me say that the purpose of the visit was to strengthen the party’s links to different European political parties,” Naira Zohrabyan, the secretary of the PAP parliamentary group, said in response to a request of www.aravot.am to clarify the purpose of the visit for members of the RPA.
Hovhannes Sahakyan, the secretary of the RPA parliamentary group, talking about the PAP delegation’s Brussels visit during a conversation with www.aravot.am, urged members of the PAP to clarify and officially state what, in the end, the purpose of the visit was, in order that members of the RPA could clarify their position.
By the way, according to Ms. Zohrabyan, the visit was advertised brilliantly, “We couldn’t have imagined that there could be such unprecedented advertisement of our party’s working visit.”

Naira Zohrabyan describes the visit as positive, particularly given the fact that European integration is an important agenda for the PAP. He says that some concrete arrangements were reached with different political forces, and as soon as in January, a few PAP MPs will leave for Brussels again.
Naira Zohrabyan informed during a conversation with Radio Liberty that Gagik Tsarukyan is an absolutely acceptable candidate for European organizations. In response to a question whether Gagik Tsarukyan would announce his candidacy for the presidential election, Zohrabyan said that the party would make an official statement on that next week.
As for the Brussels visit and impressions, Vartan Oskanian, a PAP MP and the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, noted in his Facebook status update: “If I tried to describe the visit in just one word, I would say that it was a necessary visit. Firstly, it was necessary for the PAP, as an influential political force in Armenia, to present its opinion on the country’s present and future.
“Secondly, it was important that the European Union, as one of Armenia’s most important partners, accepted and perceived the PAP as a reliable partner in implementing the EU-Armenia projects. Thirdly, one had to clear up the misunderstanding that the PAP is a one-way political force and doesn’t adhere to the European values very much. Let me say that the visit was efficient and served its purpose.”
