“There is no question here; human rights have been violated,” Garnik Isagulyan, a former permanent representative of the President of the Republic of Armenia in the National Assembly and a former Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) MP, described secretly recording the conversation between Oskanian and Zurabyan in this manner during a conversation with www.aravot.am. He then added: “I don’t know who did this, but whoever did it, this was solely against the President of the Republic of Armenia. The reason is that a Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) congress was in progress, and during the congress, the president put forward clearly defined theses, one of which was human rights protection, secure Armenia. And suddenly, immediately after the congress, the recording appears on the internet. I think the respective bodies must find the perpetrator. No one is discredited by the recording. Politicians always meet and discuss different issues. If political forces have decided to unite, they reveal certain internal problems to each other. Therefore, the commentaries that this is done by the government or the National Security Service are inaccurate. I am convinced that the National Security Service couldn’t have done such a thing, since I am convinced that they would have realized quite well that the President of the Republic of Armenia absolutely didn’t need that in the current political situation, despite everything. Besides, the PAP had stated earlier that it would not participate in the presidential election, thus, there was no reason for the president to be interested in such a thing. Particularly given his speech at the RPA congress, and suddenly he was faced with that fact the next day.”
Levon Zurabyan didn’t deny during a conversation with journalists today that their conversation had been secretly recorded in Rich, a café that belongs to R. Kocharyan. Therefore, we inquired of Mr. Isagulyan whether this fact hinted at who might be the organizers. Our interlocutor replied: “Doing such a thing is laborious. Firstly, one had to know that they would meet in that café and would sit around that table. If that information was gotten, anyone could do that. And it doesn’t matter at all in which café it happened.”
