Human rights advocate Avetik Ishkhanyan considers how MP Mher Sedrakyan talked with a journalist of A1+, Mher Arshakyan, today, “Get out of here, or else I will break your jaw,” a manifestation of permissiveness.
“When I heard the president say that there would be no permissiveness anymore, I immediately recalled how governor had slapped Silva Hambardzumyan in the face, which had no consequences, and many other cases and how the MP talked with a journalist today too. There have been, are and will be such cases, while mechanisms of the separation of powers don’t work in Armenia, while we haven’t gotten rid of the famous principle of Mussolini – our friends and relatives are allowed to do everything, and the law is for our enemies,” Mr. Ishkhanyan said.
According to him, the RPA is not a party in the classical sense, it is a governing group that sets an example of permissiveness and propagates it. Let us remind that Serzh Sargsyan, the President of the Republic of Armenia, boasted at an RPA congress several days ago: “We opposed our common will to permissiveness. We completely rejected the practice of using violence against journalists.”
