The trial of Robert Harutyunyan, a 38-year-old resident of the village of Itsakar, and Samvel Grigoryan, a 34-year-old resident of the village of Paravakar, started in the trial court of the town of Berd, region of Tavush, on December 21. They are accused of having sexual relations with T. G., a resident of the village of Itsakar, born in November 1996, in the period from December 2011 through February 2012. The men are accused of a crime mentioned in Article 141 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia – having sexual intercourse with a person under 16 years of age – that article provides for a fine varying from 100- to 250-times the minimum wage or imprisonment for not more than two years. They have been released on their own recognizance.
Both men are married: R. Harutyunyan is unemployed, and S. Grigoryan is a contract serviceman. S. Grigoryan has no attorney in court, R. Harutyunyan has an attorney. Judge Zoya Zakinyan decided that the court session will be closed. Since witnesses didn’t come, the judge adjourned the session; the next session is due on December 24.
