Raffi Hovhannisyan Is Not Afraid of Eavesdropping, Because He Doesn’t Engage in Discussions in Cafes

December 22,2012 14:32

www.aravot.am asked Raffi Hovhannisyan, the leader of the Heritage Party, today to comment on the incident between Mher Sedrakyan and a journalist. He condemned it, saying that unfortunately, it was not a unique incident, “It should be condemned and punished, regardless of who that man is.”

Raffi Hovhannisyan also condemned eavesdropping the conversation between the MPs of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) and the Armenian National Congress (ANC). In response to our question whether he didn’t have meetings and discussions in cafes, and whether he wasn’t afraid of eavesdropping, he laughed, “No. I have official meetings in the office; I meet many people at home.” In response to our observation that he was cautious, he denied it. “No. You know quite well that I spent 15 days in the open air, 24 hours a day and offered a lot of opportunities of communicating with me, recording or filming me to those who wanted to do that. That is why I don’t avoid, and as a historian’s son, I say things both in my public speeches and during private conversations for the record. Therefore, I am not afraid of that.”
