A newspaper The People filed a lawsuit against Khachik Khachatryan, the owner of Jrashkharh, Yerevan Poultry Farm, Araks, a poultry farm, Valencia Complex, Aquatech, 10 out of 10, a shooting range, Klaik, M&S, a chain of furniture stores, Geghama, a recreation
center on Lake Sevan and Villashin, a construction company. He called a young journalist of The Republic “prostitute” in response to a question that was not so pleasant for him. He said to the journalist: “Write, dear, write, sweetheart. On the contrary, I am happy that people write about me, whereas you don’t pay attention to me, it shouldn’t be so. Sweetheart, you are not a journalist; you are a prostitute. You can write that too.” The People demands that K. Khachatryan apologize to the newspaper and journalist Sona Grigoryan. www.aravot.am inquired of S. Grigoryan at what stage the case was. She went into detail: “We have filed two lawsuits in court: one on behalf of the newspaper, one on behalf of a journalist. Unless the case is taken up, we cannot file a motion.”
We inquired of S. Grigoryan how she would assess the incident and what the reason for such phenomena was. She replied: “A person goes beyond the limits of politeness, and when a journalist asks a question and expects an answer, he insults a journalist without any reason impolitely and under the influence of alcohol. I have a recording, where one can see that. He answered quite normally; at the end, for some reason, he went ballistic and insulted.”
We inquired of K. Khachatryan (in the picture) whether he was going to apologize to The People and journalist Sona Grigoryan. In response to our question, he said: “Sweetheart, I don’t say anything over the phone, since what I say over the phone is distorted and interpreted in a wrong way. If you have a question, come to the office and ask here; we will answer your question. Thank you, good bye.”
