Mnatsakyan Martirosyan, a judge of the trial court of the Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts, announced today the verdict on the case of Vazha Ardziashvili and the others alleged to have stolen 150 books – worth 7m AMD – from the National Library of the Republic of Armenia and the Yerevan State University library. Vazha Ardziashvili, a former officer of the Georgian police, was convicted to 10 years in prison – half of his property will be confiscated – Yervand Ghambaryan was convicted to 5 years in prison, Davit Ghambaryan to 4.5 years, Vardan Yeghiazaryan and Karen Hovhannisyan to 4 years and Hasmik Durgaryan, the head of the Yerevan State University library, was put on probation for 5 years.
