Is the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Already Engaged in Propaganda Against the Armenian National Congress (ANC)?

December 26,2012 20:05

In response to our question whether he agreed with the notion of the Congress members that those who announced their candidacies struggled for the 2nd, 3rd or 4th places and wanted to be closer to the trough, Armen Rustamyan, a representative of the ARF Supreme Body in Armenia and the leader of the ARF parliamentary group, avoided making assessments during a conversation with www.aravot.am today. He just said that Hrant Bagratyan didn’t have good chances to win. According to him, Raffi Hovhannisyan also doesn’t have good chances to win, “Isn’t it clear that he doesn’t have good chances; everything is predetermined?”

Aghvan Vardanyan, the alternate representative of the ARF Supreme Body in Armenia, had mentioned yesterday Levon Ter-Petrossian’s connection with the events of March 1 and stated about the ANC leader’s making decisions on his own at a press conference today. Therefore, we inquired whether there wasn’t a contradiction that on the one hand, they said that they had done and did everything to unite the opposition, on the other hand, they struck blows against the opposition, whether the ARF had adopted a new line toward the opposition. Armen Rustamyan said in response: “No, there is no such thing. There is no anti-propaganda. We have never been engaged in anti-propaganda; it is just not our style. It is a wrong impression that we are struggling against the Congress. We still do everything we can to unite the opposition and haven’t done anything against it.”
