A Candidate for President Left the Election Campaign at the Request of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) Members

January 08,2013 18:01

Lawyer Ruben Avagyan, a member of the PAP and a candidate for president, met with his fellow party members today and decided to leave the presidential election campaign at their request.

“Taking my friends advice, I decided not to use the two-day term given by the Central Election Commission. My closest friends advised me not to continue,” the candidate for president said to www.aravot.am.

He assured that he had had the 8-million-dram election deposit in hand as early as yesterday, and he was leaving the election campaign not because of the money. “I receive a salary from the Council of Europe – 850€ a month – as a law-abiding citizen, I haven’t changed 4-5 parties to get an office. The program I have put forward would have destroyed the corrupted system once and for all.

“As a lawyer, I offered a way for Armenia to get out of this mud. Although I don’t endorse anyone, I am ready to fully support the candidate, who will be willing to use my program, and I will give it to him. As a law-abiding citizen, I have decided to abide by the party’s rules, in order that there are no deviations.”
