Andrias Ghukasyan Smells Like Blackmail to Them

January 11,2013 17:35

The statement of Andrias Ghukasyan, a candidate for president, smells like blackmail to the Heritage Party.

Let us remind that he released a statement today, offering all candidates for president to jointly withdraw their candidacies. Those who will reject the offer will be considered by A. Ghukasyan as the incumbent president’s supporters.

“Raffi Hovhannisyan will continue participating in the election. As for jointly withdrawing candidacies, it is not a solution to the problem. On the contrary, the government will easily, legitimately and normally be elected, be reproduced and proceed without any problem in the

direction of implementing their anti-state programs,” Armen Martirosyan, the deputy chairman of the Heritage Party executive committee, said to www.aravot.am.

“As for the statement ‘If they don’t withdraw, they are Serzh Sargsyan’s protégées,’ it is unacceptable, because one shouldn’t give assessments. Moreover, the past experience has shown us that this kind of blackmail is unacceptable, and those who use blackmail do the government a great service. Respecting his person, I have to say at the same time that this is an unacceptable statement, and it smells like blackmail, which is absolutely unacceptable for us. The Heritage Party and Raffi Hovhannisyan have their political position; it may not be acceptable for some people, but it is our political position, which is not forced by anyone and is accepted by us. We have our path of struggle, and we continue on that path. Our citizen will gain nothing positive, if his offer is put into effect,” Mr. Martirosyan added.
