Andrias Ghukasyan, a candidate for president, doesn’t wish to comment on the response of presidential candidates to his proposal to jointly withdraw candidacies.
“It is not important what Hayrikyan, Armen Martirosyan said. It is important that I expressed my readiness to withdraw my candidacy, along with the other candidates. Every one of us can see that the proposal to start and lead a civic movement is not acceptable for Hayrikyan, Raffi Hovhannisyan and Bagratyan. It is not important for what reasons it is not acceptable or how they responded. The important thing is that those politicians aim at participating in the election, don’t challenge the moral, political and legal right of the candidate nominated by the Central Election Commission (CEC) to participate in this election. Thus, they basically legitimize the fraud committed in the previous elections. Thus,
they confirm that all the criticism that the elections in Armenia are not free, don’t reflect the public’s will is worthless,” Mr. Ghukasyan said.
He also said that he had known in advance what he would have done, if his proposal had been accepted, and what he would do, if it was rejected. “Their decision is not an obstacle in my way.”

He claimed once again that he would carry out his decision to go on a hunger strike, if the CEC didn’t satisfy his demand and didn’t void the registration of Serzh Sargsyan, the candidate of the ruling party.
Mr. Ghukasyan also said that he would talk about his further actions in the short run.
