“Hello, I invite you to the Kentron and Nork-Marsh court on Monday. I will be tried,” Hmayak Hovhannisyan, the President of the Union of Political Scientist greeted Galust Sahakyan, the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) parliamentary group leader, after a press conference today when he accidentally met him at the club door.
Hmayak Hovhannisyan started to tell all the details of the criminal case, inform about the witnesses and ask Galust Sahakyan for help. “Liska beat a woman in front of witnesses, it was filmed, someone else beat him, and I who hasn’t done anything… come to the trial and let’s see whether I have broken a finger or have done anything else. This is ridiculous; this is a grotesque. Certainly, a tyranny creates a grotesque situation.”
Hmayak Hovhannisyan is charged with battery for inflicting non-serious bodily injury on Senik Julhakyan because of condo issues.
In response to our question whether Hmayak Hovhannisyan looked like a criminal who could inflict injury, Galust Sahakyan said: “It is concealed.”

Meanwhile, Hmayak Hovhannisyan tried to convince Galust Sahakyan that he was innocent. “I haven’t laid a finger on him. There is no Human Rights Defender. They violate my right. They provoke me, film me, put it on YouTube; one can clearly see in it that I didn’t lay finger on him, he writes in his testimony that his finger was trapped in the door and was injured. A few days after he was told from above to give false testimony, they would support him.”
Galust Sahakyan inquired whether there was a witness. Hmayak Hovhannisyan said yes, but witnesses had written the same sentences, using the same words, had given false testimonies. “If we had lived in a normal country, they would have been held accountable. That Senik-Nersik….”
However stubbornly Hmayak Hovhannisyan tried to get an answer from the RPA parliamentary group leader whether he would support him or at least come to the trial, Galust Sahakyan didn’t make any promise.
