Levon Ter-Petrossian, the leader of the Armenian National Congress (ANC), wished his teammates to move from words to action. In response to a question of www.aravot.am whether his civil document could be considered within that framework, i.e. he had responded that call, Nikol Pashinyan, an ANC MP, said that he didn’t want to go into detail about the civil document. “It will be made public, and everyone will find out what it is. I have informed the public that I was going to put forward such a document.”
In response to our question whether one could conclude from it that he, as he had stated, feeling responsibility for the promises he had made in the square, wanted to lead the opposition masses, he said: “I want to keep the promise that I will make all possible efforts to achieve real changes in Armenia. And I hope that all concerned citizens will also make efforts, and joining, combining our efforts, we will achieve political results and yes, a change of power. Actually, one cannot talk about a change of power, because for a change of power, one needs a government. Since there is no government in Armenia – there is a regime that has usurped power – the task is to establish a legitimate government in Armenia.”
We inquired whether he agreed with the criticism made by Petros Makeyan and Sos Gimishyan that Levon Zurabyan, the ANC coordinator, and Levon Ter-Petrossian were to blame for the crisis in the ANC. Nikol Pashinyan replied that he didn’t wish to make a comment on that issue. “We have a situation, and every one of us should take their share of the blame for that situation. I don’t want to shift my share of the blame onto someone else. I think that every one of us should take their share of the blame. Perhaps, realization of that and responsibility for that encourage us to take further action.”
We asked to clarify whether he admitted that there was a crisis in the ANC, Nikol Pashinyan said: “There is crisis in the Republic of Armenia, rather than in the ANC. And every citizen of the Republic of Armenia, including members of the ANC and those who are not members of the Congress, all of us are facing a crisis. And that crisis should be overcome.”
