“There is no crisis, split or any such problem in the Congress and won’t be. All the institutions of the Congress work effectively. I don’t know what you are talking about, because it is one thing to publish in the press; moreover, they are contradictory statements. No one has put forward such an issue institutionally in the Armenian National Congress (ANC) political council. On the contrary, a serious consensus has been reached; we continue our discussions and work,” Levon Zurabyan, the coordinator of the ANC said during a conversation with www.aravot.am about Petros Makeyan’s proposal how to get the ANC out of crisis. As for blaming him for the crisis in the ANC, Mr. Zurabyan said: “No such thing has been put forward, I am for an institutional approach; no such issue has been raised by any party. If someone wants to say something, I think that it should be raised with the Congress, using a concrete mechanism.”
We asked Mr. Zurabyan to also talk about ANC member Sasun Mikayelyan’s famous article.
“I think Levon Ter-Petrossian to whom Sasun Mikayelyan’s letter was addressed has given a satisfying and clear answer. I would deem immodest to add something,” the ANC coordinator said.
He didn’t agree that the ANC leader had made a mild response to S. Mikayelyan’s criticism, in order that no one thought there were new tensions in the ANC.

In response to our question whether the question raised by Sasun Mikayelyan, “Is this the right policy of the ANC, as a result of which the last hope of the people is dashed, the opposition force considered the leading one in our country is collapsing, breaking the back of the opposition?” was not the question that concerned the ANC electorate too, Mr. Zurabyan said: “I don’t think so.”
Mr. Zurabyan also talked about the criticism of Levon Ter-Petrossian’s decision not to announce his candidacy that Levon Ter-Petrossian should have known about his age long before the end of the year. “If you read it carefully, not only age is mentioned. Age could have been disregarded, if there hadn’t been other reasons. And Ter-Petrossian’s statement mentions it. If you think the reason is not clear, reread the statement.”
