Tigran Mukuchyan, the chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC), denied the assertion of the PACE pre-election delegation that there had been serious inaccuracies on the voter registration lists and uncertainty with regard to the voting right of Armenians living abroad.
“The voting right of Armenian citizens is a very important issue; there should be discussions on that issue, as a result of which a decision will be made. With regard to the description as uncertain, I think it is certain, because our Electoral Code clearly stipulates how those citizens can participate in the election. They expressed their position, but we have an electoral code; I don’t want to make comments on anyone’s statement,” Mr. Mukuchyan said to www.aravot.am.
Talking about the concern of the delegation about inaccuracies on the voter registration lists, Mr. Mukuchyan said that voter registration lists had been clarified.
