Sociologist Aharon Adibekyan also attended the campaign meeting of Serzh Sargsyan, the incumbent President of the Republic of Armenia and a candidate for president, in the district of Avan, Yerevan, yesterday. By the way, he was sitting in the front row, on the seats intended for the local representatives of the ruling party. Adibekyan told www.aravot.am that he had attended the meeting as a resident of the given community. We inquired whom

he was going to vote for. “As a professional, I always think highly of professionals, people who are skillful and can achieve results. In that regard, the incumbent president has no rival, with regard to issues of government,” he said.

We asked whether the reason for his preferences was not the capabilities of the government’s representative, particularly given the fact that after all public opinion polls, he had been accused of carrying out the government’s instruction. Adibekyan didn’t agree and explained: “My first clients were Communists; I told them they would lose, and they lost. My second client was the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF); I told them they would lose, and they lost. My third client was Radio Liberty, and at the time I… I told Husik Ter-Lazaryan in 1996 that they were losing, they would not win, and you know how Levon maintained his office. As for the next elections…, I am not to blame that my candidates, my clients win. How can I say that they are losing, if they are winning?”

In response to a question how come he had met only winning candidates since 1996, he said: “Well, because they are serious players; they treat it seriously. They are skillful; they understand that one cannot join the game without being aware of it.”
