According to environmentalist Inga Zarafyan, the promises of Serzh Sargsyan, the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) candidate and the incumbent President of the Republic of Armenia, regarding the environment have been carried out only under society’s pressure.
That is why Ms. Zarafyan doesn’t pin much hope on his campaign promises.
“We can assert that the promises can really be carried out under society’s pressure. But the general policy of the RPA is anti-environmental,” Ms. Zarafyan said during a conversation with www.aravot.am.
According to her, the government lacks political will in order not to make anti-environmental decisions. “We see political will in individual cases, but we want political will to be reflected in the whole national policy.”
