“It Is Another Bluff and Lie,” a Member of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) Says About the Statement of S. Sargsyan’s Headquarters

January 31,2013 10:46

Yesterday the campaign headquarters of Serzh Sargsyan, the incumbent president of Armenia and a candidate for president, released a statement, which condemned collecting passport information.

Is the statement of the incumbent president’s campaign headquarters honest or not? Gurgen Yeghiazaryan, said during a conversation with www.aravot.am regarding this: “They are the ones who collect; can they catch themselves? It’s obvious. So they want to catch those who collect passport information and want us to tell them the names of those who collect. No one will tell, since people have to earn their living. What can those people say now? Should they say they have been told to bring passport information? Naturally, they will keep silent, and it will continue. This can be described only as a lie. In a word, it is another bluff and lie, since Armenia is a country of bluff.”

At the same time, Mr. Yeghiazaryan stated that they didn’t need to tell such a lie, since “Serzh Sargsyan will win this way or another.” Then he went into detail: “The public opinion today is very weak; they try to influence the public opinion, in order to deceive the citizens. It is even more astonishing, because they don’t need to lie. He will be victorious this way or another. It is meaningless to employ deception, cunningness, and falsification to win. They realize that. The public opinion is negative; on the other hand, the status of being between the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union (EurAsEC) is bad. The problem is that one foot is in the Western values, the other is in the EurAsEC. As a rule, when one runs after two hares, he catches neither. Our people have been turned into that hare. Lie-bekyan says that Serzh Sargsyan will win 66 percent of votes. Ask Lie-bekyan why they should vote for him when there are more than a million hungry people?”

We inquired of G. Yeghiazaryan whether S. Sargsyan’s rating would rise after the statement released by Serzh Sargsyan’s campaign headquarters or it would be the other way around. He replied: “What do you mean? Horticultural crops…? There is no rating to rise or to fall.”
