Armenak Dovlatyan about not abiding by the decision of the ANC

Armenak Dovlatyan, a member of the ANC and the leader of the Green Party of Armenia, made a decision after long discussions inside the party to support Hrant Bagratyan. Today www.aravot.am inquired of him how he would comment on the fact that considering the ANC statement, it turned out that he hadn’t abided by the ANC decision, being a member of the ANC. He replied: “Not that I didn’t abide, it is a general decision of the ANC. The ANC doesn’t participate, and this is a separate decision of our party. The ANC is a general institution, where everyone is free to take their positions.”

Let us remind that the Congress had decided not to participate in the presidential election and not support any candidate.

He assured that he and any party, including those that were members of the ANC, had a right to take separate positions.

In response to our question whether the Congress hadn’t put him under pressure after that decision, Armenak Dovlatyan said: “Not at all. Certainly, none. It is stipulated in the ANC memorandum in that very way.” Mr. Dovlatyan assured that although he supported Hrant Bagratyan in this election, his relations with the Congress were very well. “I have no problem.”

Petros Makeyan, the leader of the Democratic Motherland Party, is going to raise the issue of Levon Zurabyan’s expulsion at the upcoming meeting of the ANC political council and put forward Levon Ter-Petrossian’s candidacy for the ANC coordinator. Armenak Dovlatyan said in this regard: “When there is a proposal we will discuss it. When it is put forward at the political council, perhaps next Wednesday, we will express our opinion, we will see.”
