The person who attempted to assassinate Paruyr Hayrikyan, a candidate for president, didn’t look like a European, as Mr. Hayrikyan claimed. It turns out that Hayrikyan deliberately made up the appearance of the criminal, in order that the real criminal was found more quickly.
“Now they come and say that he looks like Armenian, he doesn’t look like European, why did he say so? And I explain that Mr. Hayrikyan expressed some thoughts during the preliminary investigation, in order that the criminals felt secure. He said that the criminal looked like a European, in order that the persons who didn’t look like Europeans felt secure; I don’t know the details. The rest will be told by the competent bodies. Other things are yet to be revealed,” Karo Yeghnukyan, a representative of Hayrikyan’s campaign headquarters, said to www.aravot.am.
In response to our question whether the suspicions about the Russian Imperialism were also made up, Mr. Yeghnukyan said no, everything was correct with regard to that.
He didn’t answer our question whether Mr. Hayrikyan had come face to face with the criminal and whether he had recognized him. “I won’t answer this question. I cannot tell anything. We expect more things to be revealed, it is not solved yet; unless those who arranged it are revealed, this is just the beginning.”

He also said that Hayrikyan’s health condition had been improving. He was twice injected with analgesia yesterday, in order to sleep, and today he feels relatively well.
