“Serzh Sargsyan Will Keep the Country in a Critical but Stable Condition in the Next 5 Years”

February 08,2013 10:52

According to psychologist Ashot Hakobyan, the condition of the Republic of Armenia is critical but stable these days Psychologist Ashot Hakobyan said during a conversation with www.aravot.am that almost all members of our society tried to maintain the current situation, ruling out any changes. “Whole society thinks this very way; the pivotal judgment of the Armenian is the following – leave my wound alone, leave it be, I don’t trust anyone to remove the bandage and try to treat my wound. I don’t trust anyone at the moment, although I know that there are dangerous processes under the bandage, it is hurting, but since I haven’t found the doctor whom I can trust with my troubles and pain, leave it be. So we are in a critical but stable condition; there should be no interference at the moment,” the psychologist describes.

According to our interlocutor, unfortunately, the critical but stable condition will last, until the moment comes when everyone will reassess their actions, show devotion to the fatherland. According to Ashot Hakobyan, many people in Armenia talk about systemic changes, not realizing what they are. And the most tragic thing is that political parties exist only in one’s imagination; politicians also cannot clearly express their political ideas.

“One should be ideologically celibate, and if one is a member of a party, one must not deviate from that party’s ideology. The Armenian word for party hints at celibacy, one should be celibate in a party, whereas from the partisan perspective, they have become immoral people, each one of them; they declare one thing, but do another one. It is the same thing as a priest joining a brotherhood, he is considered celibate, he is a monk already; he is in a condition of celibacy, as far as his perceptions, behavior, and lifestyle

are concerned. A priest doesn’t differ from a monk in his religious knowledge, but this one is called a priest, and that one is called a celibate monk. A politician is not an ordinary citizen, he is ideologically celibate, and he has suddenly found out sitting at home that he is, let’s say, an adherent of national conservatism.”

As for how he would describe the ruling party’s position in the region of Shirak, whether he agreed with the opinion that they mostly tried to involve the prominent figures in this party, our interlocutor said: “I am compelled to repeat that I don’t think there are party members; this is the problem. If you talk about the Republican Party, if I understood you correctly, this party is a national conservative party, but I don’t see any manifestation of national conservatism in its party line. This party really could have contributed to society’s consolidation, but you have seen it; what we have seen is adoption of European values, rather damaged educational system, rather damaged culture etc. And this has been done by national conservatives; it is just funny. One can know, respect, and accept many people as persons, but one should tell them, ‘Bro, you are too far from being a party member.’ One can realize that he tries to ensure his social security, solve a personal issue by this, but we should stop and ask where we are heading to like this,” the psychologist asserts.
