According to sociologist Aharon Adibekyan, Raffi Hovhannisyan, the leader of the Heritage Party, organizes rallies to justify himself to his sponsors.
“He should give an explanation to his sponsors why he didn’t win, although he stated that he would surely win, so that his slogan reached the voters’ hearts, his programs’ reached the voters’ minds, and they would see him as the guiding star that would lead them out of this crisis,” Mr. Adibekyan said.
He is convinced that R. Hovhannisyan will manage to justify himself only through considering the election unjust and falsified. “The only explanation will be that the election was dirty, full of bribes, which he wasn’t ready for; he will be consoled by that. If he had been a diehard he would have said: ‘Yes, I lost,’ and would have congratulated the incumbent president. Basically he weakens our institution of presidency by his attitude.”
In Mr. Adibekyan’s opinion, Serzh Sargsyan must have said to Raffi Hovhannisyan during a meeting today the same thing he had said to Tsarukyan. “If you want to serve the nation, you should not aspire to the chief executive office.”
