“I don’t think that there is unequal coverage. I don’t think that my TV set or the radio set in my home differs from the devices of other citizens or members of the Heritage Party. After work, I watch TV at home and see how much it is covered. The rallies, as well as their statements and press conferences, are covered,” Grigor Amalyan, the head of the National Commission on TV and Radio (NCTR), said during a conversation with www.aravot.am, responding to the statements of different members of the Heritage Party that in the post-election period, after the monitoring of TV and radio coverage was over, there was unequal coverage again. According to our interlocutor, the law clearly regulates and provides for requirements for the election campaign, including the election day. After that, the law doesn’t specifically provide for equal conditions. “A candidate is a candidate, from the day of registration through the election day. We will hardly continue ensuring equal conditions for the candidates to be registered for the next election. TV companies themselves choose the political events that arouse people’s
interest and cover them.” According to Grigor Amalyan, the political activeness of the Heritage Party, in particular, is covered fairly well.
