“Go to Somalia and Observe There,” the Observers Were Urged Not to Come to Armenia

February 22,2013 10:18

The protest of the civil initiative’s activists outside the OSCE/ODIHR Yerevan Office has just ended. As we have already informed, they had gone there to say goodbye to the OSCE/ODIHR observers and express their “gratitude.” After long negotiations and pushing, the activists got permission from the police officers to go up to the office. The activists handed 2 bags of trash, a video about the recorded election fraud, and other written evidence over to Robin Seaword, a representative of the OSCE/ODIHR Office. “We have a gift for you. These are the envelopes that were torn during the election. These are the publications in the mass media about what election was held. Please, familiarize yourself and draw a conclusion whether this election was a step forward or a few steps back. We are looking forward to your response, and we ask you not to come to Armenia anymore, so that you don’t make the situation here even more difficult with

your conclusions that don’t correspond to the reality. Instead of supporting the citizen of Armenia, so that a really free election is held in the country, and the constitutional order is established, you help the government take illegal actions. When you are ready to put an end to the legitimization of those illegal actions, you may come to Armenia. Otherwise, you have no business in Armenia; go to Somalia and observe there,” activist Argishti Kiviryan handed the present over to Mr. Seaword and urged him, wagging his finger. Mr. Seaword expressed his gratitude and said that they had the right to express their position. After handing the presents over, the activists danced and left.
