Articles were published in the press last weekend that after beloved actor Vardan Petrosyan had made a speech in Freedom Square, he was denied entrance into the French University in Armenia (UFAR). Varuzhan Avetikyan, a member of the US Alumni Association and a professor at the French University, also complained about that incident on his Facebook page. www.aravot.am asked the UFAR to make a comment on this. We received the following explanation from Jean Jacques Montois, the rector of the UFAR: “The French University in Armenia is blamed for not organizing a meeting-debate on its premises. In this regard, I would like to clarify that they didn’t make a proper request to the UFAR administration. On the contrary, the administration has been informed about that meeting only from the anonymous announcements that were posted. Refusing to organize the meeting, the University clearly followed its internal rules of procedure.”
