April 01,2013 11:29

Talking about Raffi Hovhannisyan’s stopping his hunger strike and resuming his regional rallies, Zoya Tadevosyan, a member of the initiative group of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) and the founder of the socio-political movement The People’s Power, said: “That is Raffi Hovhannisyan’s tactic, and I wouldn’t like to comment on or to criticize the author of the tactic. In any case, I think that it is a way of political struggle, and cannot benefit the movement in any way. As for why that decision was made by him, he should answer that question. And I don’t think that the hunger strike was needed, and that generally hunger strike, as a method of political struggle, is acceptable. A politician should always show his reasoned and substantiated political attitude, way of life and strong political

position, and it should be such that it will be trustworthy for the masses, that no one will criticize, doubt and find other intentions, other tints in it. In this struggle, in this sit-down strike, hunger strike, there were many suspicions; therefore one should have taken a different stance.” Ms. Tadevosyan added that politicized society should have been led along a political path. As for what would change after Serzh Sargsyan’s inauguration, Tadevosyan stated that everything depended on April 9. “If on April 9, our society is able to say no as strongly as possible, say no to the president; well, this may change something, and if it happens, the political struggle will not end.” In Zoya Tadevosyan’s words, there is big opposition in society, and after April 9, that society will take its path, i.e. “The ANC will lead the politicized society that exists in Armenia along the right path, then we will have the results of the Yerevan City Council election, and after that, the global change of the situation will continue.”
