Talking about Raffi Hovhannisyan during a conversation with www.aravot.am, Petros Makeyan, the leader of the Democratic Motherland Party, said: “I am under the impression that Raffi Hovhannisyan has probably learned a lesson from the previous struggles of the opposition in the past decade that the main factor for the opposition should be the people. And naturally, after stopping the hunger strike, he goes to the regions again, sending messages so that the people come to the square to follow his steps, to participate in the intended processes. I think that Raffi Hovhannisyan’s holding rallies in the regions, that step can be explained by that.” It was hard for Makeyan to answer the question what we would have after April 9. In his words, “It is hard to predict the result, since we have many precedents of Armenian post-election developments, the result of which has always been to the detriment of the people and to the benefit of the Establishment. Now, Raffi Hovhannisyan will naturally try to take steps, learning a lesson from previous mistakes, but I don’t know what result it will yield; time will tell.”
