Diyaeddin Gezer, the president of the Diyarbakir Chamber of Commerce and Industry who came to Yerevan to participate in the forum of Armenian and Turkish businesswomen, wants to see the Armenia-Turkey border open, along with many other Turkish businessmen. “From the perspective of the Caucasian and Russian markets, perhaps Armenia may be the most convenient partner. And the other way around, Turkey may be the shortest route to Europe,” the Turkish official said during a conversation with www.aravot.am, noting that using business contacts, one could enhance cooperation between two countries in other fields. According to Diyaeddin Gezer, Turkish businessmen have been, as it were, pressuring the Turkish government for the past two years to open the Armenia-Turkey border. Talking on the subject of putting off the direct flight between Yerevan and Van indefinitely, the president of the Diyarbakir Chamber of Commerce and Industry did not give any specific reasons, he just said: “There may be various reasons for putting off the flight, but we believe it will be resumed in the short-run.” Let us note that during the forum of Armenian and
Turkish businesswomen, the Turkish businessmen present in the hall talked about the importance of reopening the Armenia-Turkey border, and the Armenian side asked not to politicize the discussion.
