The Pan-Armenian National Movement (PANM) Has Attributed the Name of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) Coalition Established by Them to It, Makeyan Complains

April 17,2013 10:54

“The Armenian National Congress political council resumes its work based on principles of real democracy, equality of parties, and mutual respect,” www.aravot.am received this statement made on behalf of the Armenian National Congress Coalition of Parties political council today. Petros Makeyan, the leader of the Democratic Motherland Party, clarified during a conversation with us that a few parties that had previously been members of the ANC Coalition had held a meeting today and had decided to resume their work. He explained that he was not talking about the PANM or the new ANC Party. “We invited the

former member parties; if the newly-established ANC Party applies, we will consider with the same composition.” He explained that they didn’t take the name ANC from the PANM; the PANM took the name from them. “They once attributed the name of the parties that were members of the coalition to the PANM…, so now there is a moral issue. We didn’t make a statement using the name of that party, we have made a statement on behalf of the ANC political council; we have been the founders of that political unit since 2008. We temporarily ceased our activities until the ANC Party convention. Now we have gathered to clarify our approaches.” Mr. Makeyan doesn’t care about the disagreements about the name of the ANC Party. “I have been struggling against the Establishment for 15 years, now shall we care about what that kind of people whom I have known for 5 years say? I know what kind of people they are.” He also didn’t rule out that they might change the name of their ANC Coalition of Parties in the future.
