Armen Yeritsyan Thinks That the Armenian National Congress (ANC) Should Stand by the Rule of Law Party (RLP)

April 18,2013 10:44

Armen Yeritsyan, the Minister of Emergency Situation and an RLP candidate for mayor, thinks that the tongue of Khosrov Harutyunyan, the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) parliamentary group member, slipped when he said about him that “he can be a brilliant

minister, but a useless mayor.” “I think that he is not such a person that curries favor with someone. He is a good man; it is just a slip of the tongue. I respect Khosrov Harutyunyan, but it is not like his assessment is crucial for me. What he thinks is his problem. And a slip of the tongue happens to everyone,” Mr. Yeritsyan said to www.aravot.am. We inquired of Mr. Yeritsyan whether he was not concerned that according to certain information, they had started to collect passport information and had offered bribes, in order to ensure votes for the government. “Not at all. Our residents of Yerevan have evolved so much that they get instructions, but do what they deem right. Whom else can they find today that will be ready to give up his ministership and come to labor? I am giving up my ministership to come and labor.” Mr. Yeritsyan is concerned about the problems of the city, but he will not work in the city council to solve those problems, if he is not elected mayor. “Yes, I have ambitions. I can be only the mayor. I think my chances are pretty good…. Do I do this to come and say that I have come to lose? I know I will win.” Talking about the criticism of Vahagn Khachatryan, an ANC candidate for mayor, that if the RLP was concerned about the problems of Yerevan, they should show it in practice, come and stop the construction in the Dalma Gardens, the construction work around the Opera, Mr. Yeritsyan said: “What is the reason that they want us to stand by them? Let them come and stand by me, by us, the RLP, and let us solve those problems together. Why are they better than us? Is it necessary for us to go and stand outside the Opera to be called patriots…? I think that they should come and stand by the RLP, and together we can do more.”
