“Serzh Sargsyan Will Make No Changes; He Will Be Afraid,” Levon Zurabyan Says

April 20,2013 12:02

“We didn’t go, because we don’t acknowledge the legitimacy of Serzh Sargsyan’s election victory,” Levon Zurabyan, the leader of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) parliamentary group, said during a conversation with www.aravot.am, talking about their decision to reject the invitation to meet with the President of the Republic of Armenia. Talking about the reappointments of the Prime Minister and some members of the Cabinet, Mr. Zurabyan said: “The government is so weak that it doesn’t take even formal steps, which can destabilize the situation. If Serzh Sargsyan had been strong, he would have made some bold steps, he would have tried to show to the society that he wanted to change something. However, now he cannot even show that; he needs his team to be strong, united, because he

realizes that political support for him is feeble. He will make no changes; he will be afraid.” In Mr. Zurabyan’s words, talking about the main challenges Armenia was facing – poverty, emigration, and unemployment – the President of the Republic of Armenia just acknowledged those phenomena, which they had been talking about for five years. “He didn’t offer any solution; furthermore, he skipped the most important thing. The main reason for those important problems is the gang rule that is in effect in Armenia these days. It robs the people, concentrates the wealth in the hands of a few families, and ruins the economy for its own enrichment. Being the main reason for those problems, they talk about those problems. However, when it comes to asserting what the real reason for those problems is, they talk about the negative atmosphere. So they don’t even imagine that they are the people who have created that negative atmosphere, or they realize it, all right and take us for idiots.”
