The Armenian National Congress (ANC) Coalition of Parties Will Give the Brand ANC to the ANC Party as a Dowry

April 25,2013 10:34

The ANC Coalition of Parties is not going to contend with the ANC Party for the name ANC. “They have reduced the ANC brand to the level of the Pan-Armenian National Movement (PANM) in the past two years. We don’t have a problem with the name. If there is a problem with the name, let them have it and enjoy it. We give it to them as a dowry. We want to resume political processes now. The parties involved in the coalition and we go back five years, shall we not gather, see what we will do next? If we will not do anything, we will say thank you; there is no problem, we will separate,” Petros Makeyan, the leader of the Democratic Motherland Party said to www.aravot.am. Mr. Makeyan assured that Levon Zurabyan’s statement that “only one-man parties are left in the coalition, and there are more seals there than people” did not concern their party. “We have held ten conventions in the

cabinet room, except for the last convention, which we held in February in a 300-seat hall, because they had applied to the Ministry of Justice, demanding to close our party. We were compelled to hold a working convention. What he said didn’t concern us, because although what Levon Zurabyan says is worthless, in August 2010, he said that our party was the second largest in the ANC Coalition by the human resource. However, let us put that aside. When they needed to say how powerful a union the ANC was, that it dictated the agenda, we weren’t a party that had more seals, and now when they need to discredit others, their partners, they put forward the number of people as a criterion. The likes of Zurabyan have caused the ANC to become like this. God was on our side, since the likes of Zurabyan didn’t win; otherwise our country would have fallen back another decade.”
