How David Harutyunyan was served at a store for free

June 14,2013 09:58

Armen Rustamyan was not satisfied with the explanations of the Prime Minister. Were you satisfied with the clarifications of the Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan a day ago concerning the recent offshore scandal? Yesterday “Aravot” tried to get the answer to this question from the deputies. It’s worth to remind that on the occasion of the publication of “Hetq”, in which the Prime Minister and the Ararat Diocese Navasard Kchoyan were accused of having a share in the companies registered at the offshore zone and of having accounts at the offshore zone, the Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan presented explanations at the Parliament. It turns out that the ARF MP Armen Rustamyan was not satisfied with Tigran Sargsyan’s explanations. And especially what did not satisfy the deputy, how the Prime Minister could not convince the deputy, Armen Rustamyan explained to us,-“Only the issue that the Prime Minister has applied to the prosecutor’s office, is not much, because it, basically, happened in other country, and, as he stated, was not aware of. This requires a bit more international scale. I do not a clear idea as to how this case should be examined, who decided to do, so-called, bad to the Prime Minister. In addition to this, there are also some talks related to the transfer of money. In any case, if there should be an examination done, I’m inclined for a credible body to do it. I have a vague idea how they should examine themselves”.

Hereat, Armen Rustamyan considers the approach correct that the examination is done by the deputies, that all folds are more opened, that the investigative body that has not confidence by the society might not do. It’s worth to remind that the head of ANC party Levon Zurabyan raised this proposal at the Parliament a day before, which was rejected by

the Prime Minister with a ground that the deputies leaving their main job behind, should be engaged in this, and it may create a precedent. The ARF MP is concerned about such conduct of the Prime Minister. But the issue is about the Prime Minister, and not about any other citizen. MP believes that restoring the good faith of the Prime Minister in this case is much more important in order to restore the confidence before the authorities, to establish a precedent to correctly regulate similar problems in terms of efficiency of activities of the Prime Minister and the Government. “I am concerned about this, and I am not satisfied. If there is a question that you are sure there is a kind of intrigue, conspiracy out there, it is not only against the personality of the Prime Minister. Ultimately, it is related to the reputation of the country. There are many problems that raise questions of our external image. The issue is not viewed in this depth. These are household approaches that absolutely do not satisfy me”. The deputy does not accept referring to the raised issue just for referring. “The Prime Minister must suggest mechanisms, approaches, and programs to prevent such phenomena in the sense of not contradicting his own views. The Prime Minister says,- “Yes, I’m very happy that they have started from me because we have adopted given approach”. Well, if you have adopted the approach, you have said “A”, say “B” too. There should be some steps to also dispel the doubts. We were interested whether the explanations of the Prime Minister strengthened the impressions of the Deputy that there is no granule of truth in the accusation. Armen Rustamyan said that he did not want to put such issues on the faith. It does not work in the world, too. There are objective mechanisms that are based on actual evidences, that it is not so easy to slander, the slanderers must answer. Rustamyan does not raise the issue of personality, he thinks that the problem of the Prime Minister and the Government is to have anti-mechanisms to this kind of phenomena. The MP of Republican Party Davit Harutyunyan completely agrees with the Prime Minister that very often information is disseminated about any high-ranking official which has no connection with the reality. As for the offshore zones, “I am not familiar with, but I have no grounds to doubt the Prime Minister’s words that these things may happen absolutely another way”. We got interested as to what structure is defective that can slander high-rank officials like this”. Davit Harutyunyan said that such a phenomenon can also be seen every country. And with his example he indicated, – “I hear many opinions about myself, what businesses I own. More, even a number of our organizations that have a reputation of “human rights defender”, have applied to PACE in an attempt to uncover scandalous facts about me. I seriously tried to prepare and present arguments. My more experienced European partners just smiled and said that there are similar accusations to each of them, and they do not even consider them to go deeper into, because that is not the way to present accusations to politicians. Such behavior is likely to spread everywhere. I learned about it over there”. We asked what actually businesses he owns”. “I really have no businesses”,-said David Harutyunyan, recalling an incident with humor, when once they were trying to serve him in a store for free, saying that he is the owner of the store. “I, of course, paid”,- said Mr. Harutyunyan, confessing that he enjoyed it, but refused to say which store it was.
